Models root and your own models#
The models root#
All model files live under one folder, the models root, chosen at install time and shown in the Models tab. Presets refer to files relative to this root, so moving the whole folder and updating the root setting keeps every preset working.
The root is organised by model family and role; the Models tab shows the expected path for every slot, and the catalogue downloads into the right place. You do not need to arrange files by hand unless you import your own.
Extra roots#
Add a second root to use models you already have elsewhere (a shared drive, a folder used by another tool) without copying them. Roots are searched in order; the primary root is where downloads go. Remove a root and its models disappear from the lists; the files are untouched.
Bringing your own models#
- Checkpoints and diffusers folders: import from the Models tab. Maystro reads the header to identify the base model and type. Supported families are those the built-in presets use; a file from an unsupported architecture is rejected with the reason.
- LoRAs: image LoRAs go through the same import. Video character LoRAs belong in the video LoRA library folder under the root and are trained in Training Studio; a LoRA trained elsewhere for the same model can be copied into that folder and used in a character set.
- Presets: assign your files to slots in a duplicated preset. See Models and presets.
Licensing of weights#
Maystro ships code, not weights. The starter set consists of open-weight models fetched at install time, and the catalogue shows the license of each model before download. Weights you bring yourself are covered by their own license terms; check them for commercial work.
